I am in the process of updating the Site and expanding my product list. One thing that will be returning is the furoshiki placemats. Thank you for all your requests that I bring back these great items!

Bento Supply is also going to branch out from only bento related items and also start offering Japanese themed craft kits for children or the kid in all of us. Also keep an eye out for new e-books on bento and craft related themes.
As always, we will keep our prices affordable!
I hope to have all these changes implemented by May 5th, so keep checking back!

Bean has a peanut butter sandwich with a cheese chick, strawberries, and cucumber on top. The bottom has more strawberries, a carrot with broccoli ‘leaves’, tamago, and hotdog and meatball bunnies.
Monkey grabbed his bento as soon as I finished. I pack him a full size one, as he usually snacks on it all day, grabbing it from the fridge when he is hungry and putting it back once he is done. Today I managed to snap a picture of him enjoying it!

The contest is still in the works, the prizes were just delayed in getting to me. I should have details posted up early next week!

Bean made his own bento this morning before I even woke up!

He has a jelly cup with a Hershey kiss, kamaboko with a tortilla heart, cucumber cutouts with a clown tortilla, a nutella sandwich that is a boy in bed with nori moons on the blanket, strawberries, and dried apricots.
He skipped the carrots and broccoli because he said he couldn’t cut it with a butter knife : )
I am so proud of my young chef!

Bean has two sandwiches with bunny and Easter themed kamaboko, strawberries, grapes, carrot stars, and cucumbers.
I used food marker to draw the design on the kamaboko egg. I especially like these square locking boxes for quick decorative bento.

Bean has PB&J sandwiches with food colored tortilla clovers, strawberries, meatballs on a rainbow pick, and cucumber and carrot flowers.
I used mini heart cutters to make the tortilla shamrocks.

I was feeling very spring like today!

Bean has turkey sandwiches with tortilla bunnies (colored with food markers), strawberries, grapes, broccoli, and meatballs. This is another example of using a cut sandwich to make ‘compartments’ in a bento box.
I don’t have any bunny cutters, so I looked through my collection to find something else, not quite trusting my sleepy hands to freehand them. I used the bottom half, sans head, of a gingerbread man cutter for the bunnies, cutting the toes off of one and leaving it as is for the other. Also, to keep the bunnies upright, they are held in place with a food pick running through the sandwiches, since tortilla’s are fairly flexible, they pop right up when you take the lid off (I tested it). Some vegetable food dividers and baran grass completed the garden look.

Today Bean has a hot air balloon. The first tier has bunny cookies, a marshmallow candy, and grapes. The other one has a hot air balloon sandwich made from turkey and cheese, cucumber basket, mozzarella cheese, and strawberries. Green onions supplied the ropes to attach the basket to the balloon.
I placed the scraps of meat and cheese inside the sandwich, cutting out waste.
Many times, when making a character or art bento, we find we have no idea what to use for a specific color. Even in a traditional bento, we need a variety of colors to make the food appealing. Most have seen the lists showing the five colors used in bento’s- red/orange, green, white, black and yellow. Thats all well and good, until you open your fridge and discover you are fresh out of red food. continue reading »

This is why I keep both white and wheat bread on hand
Ice cream cone PB&J sandwich with a craisen “cherry” on top, more craisens, broccoli and a container of ranch to dip it in. The other tier has strawberry, meatballs, carrot sticks, jelly cup and mini chocolate pie.

PB&J, cheese crackers, broccoli, cherry tomato, and a container of ranch. This is my favorite box for sandwiches, on of the locking bxes available in several designs in the store. By arranging the sandwiches this way, they divide the box without the need for dividers (with the exception of the crackers, as I didn’t want the moisture from the sandwich to make them ‘chewy’).
